28 SHIPS SUNK
U.S. WAR SUPPLIES CARGOES FOR BRITAIN RATIO OF LOSS SMALL (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. May 31, 1.30 p.m.) WASHINGTON, May 30. Authentic reports presented to Congress show that only 28 ships carrying war supplies from the United States ports have been sunk en route to Britain since the outbreak of war. The tabulation is not available but legislators said it was safe to assume the ratio of losses of American goods is relatively small.
It Is pointed out, however, that the sinkings do not include the losses of equipment produced in the United States and sent to Canada for transhipment.
