CALL TO DOMINION
TOTAL-WAR STANDARD INDIVIDUAL EFFORT GOVERNOR'S APPEAL (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. A warm welcome was given to the Governor-General, Sir Cyril Newall, by nearly 350 members of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce when His Excellency was the guest of the chamber at luncheon. “This is a total war and every one of us, unless we tire to be unworthy of our heritage, must consider all his actions in the light of our war effort,” said His Excellency, in the course of a speech. “The standards by which we governed our peace-time lives are no longer nearly sufficient or even appropriate. Every consideration of private interest must be subordinated to the life-and-death struggle in which we all tire engaged.”
