SAFETY IN MINES
A more strict observance of the safety regulations is now being enforced in West Coast_ mines and this has resulted in a substantial decline in output in several cases. The chief inspector of mines, Mr. G. Duggan, is visiting the West Coast, and shotfiring co-operative mines have been Compelled to adopt additional safeguards. It is understood also that the output of the State mines, particularly Strongman, lias fallen considerably as a result of the new requirements in the interests of greater rtafetV.
