(Herald Correspondent.; Miss M. Cocks-Johnston, horticultural tutor under the adult education scheme, spent a day in Te Knraka, when she gave two lectures in the Waikohu Theatre. Members of the Te Karaka, Puha, and Kanakahaia Women’s Institutes, together with other interested persons, followed the addresses with keen attention. Lunchl- - was served under the direction of the Te Karaka Women’s Institute.

; The Te Karaka Girl Guide Com- ' pany was well represented at the special commemoration service held in Gisborne for the .late Lord BadenPowell, founder of the Scout movement and sponsor of the Girl Guide movement. Cars for the journey were provided by members of the Guide committee, those attending the service including the district commissioner, Mrs. F. Hobbs, the acting-captain. Miss Valda Bull, Guides Olive and Joy Clayden, Gladys Jones, Shirley Barr, Thelma Nisbett, Gwen Jerram, Merle and Leone Atkins, Margaret Graham, Joy Clayton, and Betty Brown; Mesdames R. D. Dymock, J. G. Appleton, F. M. Clayton, and Miss M. Nisbett. Owing to counter-attractions, the sale of work arranged by the Guide committee for this week-end has been postponed.
