HOME GUARD
PATUTAHI UNIT (Horuld Correspondent.) The weekly meeting of the Patutahi unit of the Home Guard was held on Thursday, when there was almost a full muster. A second platoon was formed and it is hoped that this will be filled by the next parade, only nine more recruits being required to make up a ful platoon. A Maori platoon also is being aimed at. On Thursday week, March 13, the area commander, Colonel R. F. Gambrill, is to inspect the Patutahi unit, which has been training now for over three months. Night patrol work was again undertaken by the whole of the unit on Thursday, this time over a larger stretch of country than previously.
As each new batch of men comer forward the members are receiving the same training as the earlier men, and in this way it is hoped to build up a very efficient unit.
