LOCAL BODY DRIVERS
COUNCIL’S PROPOSALS Proposed alterations to the local body drivers’ award to suit local conditions were considered recently by the Gisborne Borough Council’s works commmittee, which recommended the council last night to submit, proposals to the union.
The proposals included a 40-hour week of five days, refuse collectors to be paid £5 2s 6d a week, and small motor-roller drivers £5 a week, these amounts to be subject to the 5 per cent increase. Two weeks’ holiday on full pay after 12 months’ service was also recommended.
