FIRE IN WORKSHOP
GAS OFFICES SAVED BRIGADE’S GOOD WORK (Pol - X’rosa Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. Smart work by the fire brigade in dealing with an outbreak prevented serious damage last night to the head office building of the Auckland Gas Company, Limited. The fire was observed in a small workshop at the back of the third floor. In the next few minutes it burst through the roof causing a glare which, with a large amount of smoke, soon attracted a large crowd of spectators-.
The interior of the workshop, which was used for minor repair work on gas fittings, was extensively damaged. Some water penetrated into a storeroom below but the contents of this suffered practically no harm.
