U.S. ARMY CALL-UP
STRENGTH NEAR 1,000,000 AIR UNITS FOR ALASKA Reed. Feb. 28. 11.30 a.m.) WASHINGTON, Feb. 27. The Secretary for War, Mr. H. L. Stimson, said that between 130,000 ind 150.000 men will be called up in March. The army’s present strength is 051,000 which is a peacetime record. He denied reports, which he said, were circulated for ulterior motives •■hat the army is buying 1.500,000 coffins. Six additional air corps units arc being sent to Alaska. Mr. Stimson later announced that three o." the six units had already been sent tn Ala<■!'••• and the others will go within two months. He declined to disclose U.i number of planes involved.
