Goldfire is considered to be unlikely to start. St. Leger.—Lucrative, Urobroz, Darkfelt, Velocity, Exactly, Positron, Tidal Wave, Spirit of Progress, Tranquil Star, Lalique. New Zealand acceptors for minor events at Flemington on Saturday are: Flemington Handicap.—Wilson and Tidal Wave. Brunswick Stakes.—Nightbeam. The chief barrier positions for the Newmarket Handicap on Saturday are: Zonda 1, Operatic 2, Orcadian 3, Gold Salute 4, Mildura 6, All Veil 10, High Caste 11. L; Robertson stated that Zonda is greatly improved,. and that now that.he has drawn so favourable a barrier position, he is sure to be a runner in the Newmarket Handicap on Saturday. All Veil pleased in his final trial at Mentone to-day, covering half a mile in 48Jsec. High Title displayed amazing speed, covering three furlongs in 35sec. Pandect is a surprise absentee from the St. Leger, and will probably be reserved for the Sydney Cup and Leger.
