SALVATION ARMY MEN A decision to seek information why Salvation Army welfare officers had not been allowed to go overseas with New Zealand troops was reached by the standing committee of the Auckland Provincial Patriotic Council. ! A letter on the subject from Lieutenant-Commander J. Evan Smith said the Salvation Army had had many inquiries why its welfare officers were not with the troops. Requests for permission to send the officers had been refused. The committee agreed to approach the National Patriotic Fund Board for information.
