Herr Hitler in a speech in the Munich beer cellar said: “We have been waiting for new U-boats. Our sea warfare will start in March and April on such a scale that the enemy never expected. When enemies ridicule the German and Italian submarine co-operation they do not know what is in store for them, but will know soon when our new type of submarines operate. “Numerous British warships are tied up in the Mediterranean. Numerous British planes are tied up in North Africa. Numerous British land forces are also tied up arid our sea warfare is only just startirig. “Sterner’’ Things to Come “Two hours ago I received reports that German surface warships and U-boats had sunk 215,000 tons of shipping in two days, but the British will have to be prepared for sterner things in March and April. We wanted to complete thb training of the crews in the rietv U-boats. Now wherever British ships cruise our U-boats will follow until the decisive hour. “I havb taken on many democracies as enemies and I have always been victorious. I arri feeling fresher than ever because the spring is coming wheri we will be able to remeasure our strength. “ “Ravage’’ By Strikers “Wherever we rrieet the British, in the Mediterranean, the North Sea or the Atlantic, they will be ravaged by our Sfiikas.” Herr Hitler spoke for two and aquarter htiiirs, presentirig iriostly an historical review. He declared that riritlorial socialism and MarxiSrii were basically the sairie. The speech was often drowned by waves of applause. Military bands thundering out martial airs whipped the audience into a frenzy of patriotic fervour to welccimd Herr Hitler.
