TO CHECK JAPAN
BRITAIN AND CHINA AMERICAN MUNITIONS (Reed. Feb. 17, noon.) TOKIO, Feb. 16. A correspondent of the Tokio Yomiuri Shimbun says the Bank of Bangkok has reported that the British authorities are negotiating a secret military agreement with Chungking to obstruct Japan’s southward advance. It is stated that the agreement includes the establishment of a Chung-king-Singapore joint defence line against Japan’s southward moves and also increased American munition supplies to Chungking via the Burma route.
The Nichi Nielli's Bangkok correspondent reported that the British are concentrating 2000 troops on the Malay-Buima borders, this constituting a “mounting threat to Thailand.”
