U.S. SCHOONER LOST.

WRECK OFF QUEENSLAND EQUIPMENT SAVED (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. Details of the wreck off the Queensland coast of the auxiliary American schooner, Director 11, were brought to Auckland by the Monterey passengers The wreck brought to a conclusion the expedition sponsored by the Whitney Memorial Hall of Pacific Bird Life. The schooner left New York in February last and cruised along the Great Barrier reef, the East Indies and Philippine Islands. The crew included. 18 American college students. The vessel ran on .the reef and sank in shallow water with the masts showing. As a result of salvage £6OOO worth of equipment was saved.
