EVACUATION PLANS FAMILIES OF NAVY (Reed. Oct. 23, 9 a.m.) MANILA, Oct. 22. Admiral Hart announced yesterday that the evacuation of the wives and dependants of American naval men throughout Asia, including the Philippines, would take a considerable time because of the lack of shipping. He said that the evacuation from ’he Philippines was not due to special developments. It was merely that the navy was unable to discriminate between personnel stationed anywhere in the Orient. An army spokesman said that there would be no evacuation of the dependants of army men from the Philippines.
