MOTU TOURNAMENT

VISITORS ENTERTAINED (Herald Correspondent.) The first tournament organised by the Motu Tennis Club this season took place last week-end, when a number of visitors from Gisborne were entertained while visiting Motu for the patriotic dance. Players were handicapped and partners drawn for, and, despite a shower at lunch time, two rounds were completed. Mr. N. G. Nisbett, president of the club, welcomed the visitors. At the end of the tournament prizes were presented to the winners, Miss J. Twisleton and T. Scholium. - Luncheon and afternoon lea were provided by the ladies.

The Te Karaka Tennis Club’s three courts have been put in order recently and will be available for play by members and intending members as from this week-end. Owing to counter attractions the official opening of the season will not be held until November 9.
