TRACK AND STABLE

TRENTHAM CANDIDATES NIGGER BOY’S FORM SIEGMUND OFF COLOUR Siegmund has so far not shown his real form, but the soft going at Masterfon on Saturday did not assist him. Improving 1 Cheerful Lady is on the improve and should have a chance if brought to Trentham. She is an unusual colour for a Defoe, heing a black, which she no doubt gets from the dam’s family, Cheerful being by Lucullus from Lady Rose, by Soult. Over Longer Journey White Rajah was finishing on over six furlongs each day at Masterton and will be more at home when it comes to tackling longer journeys. Stable Doing Well A. E. Neale’s stable is in winning' form. He won with Soutane at Masterton on Thursday, and at Stratford on Saturday won with Talenta and Black Robe. Soutane and Black Robe, who are fully related, were bred and are owned by Mr. H. McManaway. Talenta is owned by Mr. M. Millar, and this was her first success, but she showed pace last season and was twice Second in four starts. She had- had one previous start this season, finishing fourth at the Wanganui meeting to Rakanui. Talenta was bred by Mr. T. H. Lowry and fetched 300gns. at the National sales. She is by the Fairwav horse Tiderace from Talari, by Chief Ruler— Doree, by Lucullus from Desert Gold’s sister, D’Oro. She is a half-sister to Vascones. A Good One There is not much doubt that'Nigger Boy is a much better horse than he was when racing in the South Island. He has now won three on end and the last two very easily. The form of the horses in this stable is a fine tribute to trainer J. J. Waller. Defaulter’s Dam Expense, dam of Defaulter, has foaled a bay colt to BuJandshar, and is on a visit to Phaleron Bay. The imported Flamingo mare Falcon has foaled a black colt to Defoe, and will be mated with Phaleron Bay. Arrivals at Trentham The two Auckland three-year-old colts, Beau Leon and Sir Cameron, have arrived at Trentham. Beau Leon looks well after his recent racing. Sir Cameron is a rather plain looking horse, but his record shows he possesses galloping ability. Beau Leon will be ridden by Broughton and Sir Cameron by Wiggins. The Hawke’s Bay horses that were racing at Masterton went down to Trentham at the week-end.. Amigo, Sir Beau, Homily, Ringcraft and Taurangi were due at Trentham yesterday. Team of Three In addition to Yogi and Kathbeßa, who went on to Trentham from Masterton, S. J. Reid will have the two-year-old Proven at the meeting. Proven is a bay filly by Solicitor General from Lucinda, by Martian from Lady Lucy. This is a good family, but Lucinda herself has SO far not thrown anything out of the ordinary. Proven had her first race at Hastings and on the second day finished third to Par Avion and Erinscourt.
