PILES OF BICYCLES
AFTERNOON PICTURES . RAIL RECOMMENDED ■ Bicycles piled on the footpath and in ' the water-channel outside the Majestic Theatre during afternoon sessions has caused some concern to members of the Gisborne Borough Council. At last night’s meeting of the council a report from the inspection committee stated that the committee’s attention had been drawn to the congestion of bicycles outside the theatre. The committee recommended the erection of a pipe railing, against which the bicycles could be stacked on the outer edge of the footpath, the rail to extend from about 20ft. from the bus stop, provided the occupiers of business premises in the vicinity raised no objection. The town celrk, Mr. W. M. Jenkins, said that he had interviewed the business people concerned and found that they were not in favour of further obstructions being placed there. The theatre manager was prepared to place movable rails on the path on Saturday afternoons and remove them at the close of the performance. The council agreed to adopt the movable rails suggestion.
