THOROUGHLY CLEANED
RAILWAY RESERVE ROAD ONCE A DUMPING GROUND "This road now presents a very tidy appearance, having been thoroughly cleaned up and graded,” reported the inspection committee at last night’s meeting of the Gisborne Borough Council in reference to the railway reserve road, Whataupoko. "In the past,” the committee’s report stated, “residents have made this road a dump for garden refuse, and it is requested that they refrain from doing so In the future. The reserve is a public street, and it is an offence to deposit rubbish on it. "A number of residents use this road as an entrance to their motor garages, and the committee recommends that the council consider placing a light coat of gravel, say Gft. wide, down the centre, in order to provide vehicle owners with reasonable access under all weather conditions.”
The borough engineer said that the cost of gravelling the reserve from end to end would cost £l5O. Further consideration of the matter was deferred until next meeting for further information.
