BUILDING WORK
DANGER OF PRECEDENT APPLICATIONS TO COUNCIL An application from Messrs. Krebs and Company, seeking reconsideration of an application to board up walls of Messrs. Jury and Parry’s coal shed, came before the Gisborne Borough Council last night. The Mayor, Mr. D. W. Coleman, M.P., said that the fire superintendent and the borough building inspector both opposed the application. There would be no harm in the works committee inspecting the building, but caie would have to be taken not to create a precedent. When the building was being erected,.the owner was told that an application such as that now before the council would be refused. The works committee was asked to inspect the building. Messrs. Williams and Kettle, Limited, sought permission for an extension of a packing platform at their premises in Childers road, stating that the work had been completed already, the firm not being aware that a permit would have to be secured for so small a job. The works committee was asked to inspect the woidc.
