STRICTER CONTROL
ALIENS IN AMERICA (Reed. June 17. 9 a.in.) WASHINGTON, June 15. The Attorney-General, Mr. Jackson, announced a new policy of stricter control of the entry of aliens. The United States would no longer admit all persons up to the quota limits to whom no objection has been raised. Henceforth it must “affirmatively appear that admission will be tc American interests.” He urged that the immigration, labour, and naturalisation services, which to-day were transferred to the Department of Justice, should do thenutmost to prevent aliens from becoming willing recruits of the “fifth column.”
