The Hunt

Sir,—The hunt is out. Mem women, horses all in full array, bent on destruction. And what a dreadful foe! What courage is needed! The cost too. For each of the wild beasts destroyed would £IOO be considered too great an expense? Why, with such a sum the hunters may even perhaps kill one of our foes in France or save the life of one of our boys at the front. In this life and death struggle why not bend all our energies to victory over the inhuman foes in Europe, instead of allowing much time and money to be wasted in that so-called sport which destroys the life of perhaps the most timid creature of our countryside, the hare. .1901.
