Makaraka Garden Circle

The monthly meeting of the Maka-raka-Matawhero Garden Circle was held on Tuesday at the residence of Mrs. A. Langford, Matawhero, a good attendance of members being present and also Mrs. Delaney, a visitor from Marumaru. A talk was given by Mrs. Wilcox on the soil-less gardens she saw at the Centennial Exhibition and thq methods adopted. Mrs. Moore, convener, read a paper on dead leaves and how to treat them for manure. The hostess gave another of her descriptive and interesting talks on her trip on the Continent, which was greatly enjoyed by all present. Two new members were admittedwinners of competitions were:— Chrysanthemums.—Mrs. Moore, 1; Mrs. Wilcox. 2. Vegetables.—Mrs. Mclntosh and Mrs. Moore, tie, 1. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mrs. Langford for her hospitality.
