Dr. Edgar Ford, the English organist. Is to arrive at Wellington from Australia towards the end of the month. Dr. Ford has been conducting musical examinations in Australia, where he has also given some organ recitals. The honour of being the youngest pilot in the Royal Australian Air Force belongs to Frederick A. V. M. Drummond, a former Hamiltonian and son of Mr. and Mrs. Vance Drummond, of Te Awamutu. While employed in the Hotel Australasia in Sydney he took up flying, and entered camp with the first batch of Australians called up under the Empire air training scheme. He is only just 18 years of age now. Advice has been received by Mr. and Mrs. Berry, of Milton, that their son. Staff-sergeant D. C. Berry, who is in Egypt with the New Zealand Expeditionary Force, received word on January 12 that he had been made a fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society for his work in connection with auroral research in collaboration with Mr. M. Geddes, of the Carter Observatory. Stafl’-sergeant Berry, who is only 21 years of age. is also well known in Southland athletic and swimming circles.
