INTOXICATED DRIVERS (Per Press Assoeifttion.) AUCKLAND, this day. For being in a state of intoxication while in charge of a motor car two men were sentenced by Mr. C. R. OnWalker in the Police Court to-day. William Arthur Hawkins, aged 40, a salesman, pleaded not guilty and was sentenced to two weeks’ imprisonment. His license was cancelled and none is to be issued to him for four years. ' This is his fifth conviction for such an offence. Arthur Vaughan, a labourer, aged 2G, pleaded guilty to a similar charge. The police said he was so drunk that he could not walk properly. He was sentenced to two weeks’ imprisonment. His license was cancelled for 18 months.
