Political Criticism

“We have the right to criticise, the Government and it is a right we must protect,” stated Mr. M. T. B. Hall at yesterday’s meeting of the Cook County Council, when commenting on the recent court case in Wellington when a man was fined for posting ,a letter for overseas in Sydney. Mr. Hall referred to the statement of the prosecuting officer that while there was nothing in the letter that would be of value to the enemy, it contained political criticism and would not have been passedby the censor. He suggested that it was a matter that should be taken up by the Chamber of Commerce, and tiie council asked Mr. S. T. Gray, the council’s representative on the chamber, to bring the matter forward at the next meeting.
