Vote of Sympathy
The sympathy of the Gisborne High School Board of Governors was extended yesterday afternoon to one of its members, Mr. E. O. Upton, in view of the recent death of Mrs. Upton. Hamilton Taxi^Fares An increase in the fares of taxis operating in Hamilton will be made within a'week, according to the No. 1 Licensing Authority, Mr. E. J. Phelan. Mr. Phelan added that the exact charges had not yet been fixed. Taxi fares in Hamilton are the lowest in the Dominion and at a recent sitting of the authority were described by Mr. Phelan as being “more like bus fares.” The present charge is Is for ■he first mile arid 6d for each additional half-mile.
