N.Z. WAR CABINET NATIONAL CONSCRIPTION WEALTH AND MAN-POWER LONGER WORKING WEEK (Per Press Association.) WANGANUI, this day. The formation of a War Cabinet in New Zealand,, the introduction of conscription of man-power and wealth, the internment of enemy aliens and the abolition of the 40-hour week for the duration of the war, were approved by the Wellington provincial conference of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union in Wanganui to-day. Delegates were Unanimous that the crisis facing the British Empire called for a united war effort by New Zealand. The following motions were unanimously carried: “That in view of the gravity of the crisis facing the British and French Empires and their Allies to-day and the lassitude and insufficiency of our Parliamentary leaders, this conference unanimously postpones discussion indefinitely of .its comprehensive agenda paper for the purposes of discussion. ft “That this conference demands the immediate conscription of all manpower anff wealth for the duration of the war.” “That this conference demands tlie immediate internment of enemy aliens and disloyal elements.” “Thas this conference demands tlie formation of a War Cabinet representative of all sections of the community pledged to prosecute with the utmost vigour New Zealand’s war effort.” “That this conference demands the abolition of the 40-liour week, together with the removal of all time restrictions on industry and the abolition of all overtime rates for the duration of the war.”
