PARTY FOR SOLDIER (Herald Correspondent.) On Wednesday evening the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Brown was the scene of a jolly party, when friends gathered to farewell Private A. Brown before his departure for Trentham camp. Social chat and community singing were much enjoyed. The music Was supplied by Misses N. Coates and D. Scholium. A delicious supper was served in the drawing-room. The hostess welcomed her guests wearing a frock of saxe blue cloque. Those present included Mr. and Mrs, G. Drummond, Mr. and Mrs. F. Atkins, Mr. and Mrs. IT. Coates, Mr. and Mrs. T. Bennett. Mr. and Mrs. A. Cameron; Misses D. Scholium, N. Coates, E. Castles, J. McKenzie, R. Jones, G. Drummond, G. Jones, M. Tate, M. Peach, M., J. and R. Newton, and J. Cameron; Messrs. W. Scott, T. Maclean, F. Kemp, R. Coates, D. Brown. .J. Wills, R. and L. Jones, J. and J. Bennett, L. and A. Brown, R. Richmond, R. and R. Graham, J. Drummond, R. Atkins, S. Funell, M. Neshausen, A, Wills, D, Neshausen, G. Grant. Private 'R. 'Smith, and Private E. Newton.

Mrs. Badley, Gisborne, is visiting her daughter, Mrs. J. Graham, Puha. Mr. and Mrs. B. B. Moscript have returned to Te Awamutu. —Mrs. Robertson and her son, Mr. R. Robertson have left to visit Wellington and Christchurch. —Mrs. A. Newton and Miss M. Newton intend leaving at the week-end for Wellington and Trentham.—Mr. S. Funell has returned after visiting his parents at Kopu.
