Low Price of Copra
TTntjl the outbreak of war, when prices rose from £2 to £5 a ton, the copra industry of the British Solomon Islands and Now Guinea had not recovered from the depression, according to Mr. H. T. Fairbrothcr, an agent for native labour recruiting in the Solomon Islands, who is visiting Auckland, Stating that afte’ - the last war copra was selling at £4O a ton, Mr. Fairbrother said that at present plantation owners were hardly paying their way.
