Coincidental with the arrival in Gisborne of members of the complement of H.M.S. Achilles, the, management of Gisborne Theatres, Limited, received from Auckland the film of the enthusiastic welcome at Auckland to the New Zealand warship, The film is to form one of the main features of the Regent programme, and constitutes a pictorial record of one of the big days in New Zealand’s history. Clouds of Thistledown. Extraordinarily large quantities of thistledown have been blowing throughout the district during the past few weeks. The little feather-light spheres have invaded homes and offices, and even the courts of justice, floating round the rooms into most conspicuous places, frequently finishing up in clusters in odd corners. Thistle of all types appears to be more plentiful in the district than usual, and the strong winds of recent weeks have facilitated the process of stripping the plants of their seed, and blowing it over wide areas.
