TENSE COURT SCENE

MANNEQUIN’S LAPSES

There was a touching reconciliation at Marlborough Street Police Court, London, between a pretty 20-year-old mannequin and her father, who had been so distressed by her conduct that he had turned her from home.

“It has been all my fault,” declared the father, between Ids sobs, “and I will do anything to save her from gaol.” His plea succeeded. The girl, Beryl Ellen Richardson, who twice swooned in the dock, pleaded guilty to stealing, by finding, a watch valued £5.

In placing her on probation for three years the magistrate. Mr. ,T. IT. Harris, observed, “It is the third time in your young life yon have brought disgrace on your parents. You have had two chances, and you now qualify for Borstal. But your father has made a light for you and so lias the probation officer, and I have decided to yield to their entreaties.” ,

The gi”l expressed her sorrow, and as she foft the dock her father and mother ran forward to embrace her.
