SCOTLAND YARD WARNED

(Reed. Jan. 23, 11 a.m.) LONDON, Jan. 22. Following Scotland Yard's receipt of a warning of possible Irish Republican ’Army action, extraordinary precautions were taken at the Law Courts when the Chief Justice, Lord Hewart. Mr. Justice Hilberry and Mr. Justice Ilallett began hearing the appeal of Barnes and Richards against their death sentences. •Special detectives guarded the judges and 75 detectives patrolled the approaches and guarded the doorways.

Police motor cycles and cars escorted two “Black Marias" conveying the appellants separately from Pentonvillc prison. The hearing was adjourned.
