SECOND GROUP
MEN FOR TRENTHAM DISPATCH TO-MORROW VETERANS PARADE AGAIN THIRD GROUP TUESDAY To-morrow morning Gisborne citizens will dispatch the second group of men selected for the New Zeaalnd Division’s Second Echelon, these being men for the Rifle Battalion, the Divisional Petrol Company, the Reserve Motor Transport, and the AntiTank Company. The group will comprise over 50 men, the great majority of whom are single, and between the ages of 21 and 30. Arrangements for the farewell will be as for this morning’s function. The volunteers will parade at the Abercorn Hall at 1 a.m. for orders from Lieutenant R. H. Perrett, and will be served with refreshments there, an interval being allowed for private farewells. At 1.30 a.m., returned soldiers will fall in in Ormond road to provide an escort for the volunteers, on their march to Peel street, where an official function will take place. The experience gained this morning in organising the departure of troops from Peel street will be put to good purpose to-morrow morning, when, instead of moving the draft members out of their ranks to reach the service cars in which they are to travel, the cars will be brought up in front of the dais in turn, and the men will be able to take their places with a minimum of delay and confusion. The public will be requested not to mingle with the departing troops during the process of embarkation.
