DANGER OF BOMBING TORY CHIEFS WARNING CALGARY, Dec. 1. A German airplane carrier in James Bay could place bombing planes within 600 miles of nearly all major Canadian population centres, the Hon. R. J. Manion. national Conservative leader, said in addressing a meeting of 100 Conservatives here. “Hitlerism is international gangsterism, which must be wiped out,” Dr. Manion said. “And Canada mus-‘ play a full share. “If Germany wins this war, no country in the world will be secure or free. Canada would be one of the richest prizes in the world for a conqueror ” Even the United States would not remain free if Nazism triumphed. Dr. Manion told of a recent visit to the United States, in which he noted that the American sentiment was definitely pro-British and anti-Nazi. In a New York cinema he heard an audience cheer newsreel pictures of the British Navy. On the street he saw hawkers selling folding pictures which converted pictures of four pigs into a picture of Hitler.
