ALLEGATIONS IN COURT ‘EXPERIMENTED ON EACH' SYDNEY, Dec. 22. Evidence that two youths had admitted having taken narcotic drugs every day was given in the Balmain police court yesterday. Edward Plavin, aged 18. and Peter Flavin, aged 19, were charged with having broken into the Royal North Shore Hospital and the Balmain Hospital, and stolen quantities of various drugs. It was alleged that the brothers had experimented on themselves with morphia and heroin. Edward Plavin was alleged to have said that he had been taking about six grains of heroin ar.d five grains of morphia a day. Peter Plavin was alleged to havr stated that he had been taking liquid morphia three or four times a day. The defendants were alleged to have stated, further, that they had been reading about narcotics and the knowledge they had gained had made them curious. On each of two charges of having had drugs in his possession, Peter Flavin was sentenced *o three months' imprisonment, the sentences to be concurrent. Edward Plavin was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment on a similar charge. The defendants pleaded guilty to those charges. Both defendants were committed for trial on the breaking and entering charges.
