LARGE DRY DOCK

AUSTRALIAN PROPOSAL (Per Press Association.) ' AUCKLAND, this. day. Visiting Auckland to-day _ is Sir Leopold Savile, formerly civil en-gineer-in-chief to the British Admiralty. At the request of the Commonwealth Government, he has completed an investigation of the sites for building a large dry dock in Australia similar to that in Singapore, which would be capable Of handling capital ships. Sir Leopold said that the dock also might be used for large commercial ships. He had visited seven suggested sites and would forward his recommendation from England.
