£1,000,000 PLAN FOR HOSPITALS IN NORTHLAND

WHANGAREI; This Day (P.A.).— A £1,000,000 building programme for Northland hospitals, which would be completed in phases, was presented to the Northland Hospital Board yesterday by the Assistant Director of the Hospital Division of the Department of Health, Dr G. L. McLeod. Dr McLeod toured the Northland hospitals in August with the department’s architect, Mr H. F. Butcher, and included the building programme in a general report prepared for his department. The board studied the report in committee with Dr McLeod and decided to hold a special meeting on October 16 to give it further consideration.

The expenditure of slightly more than £1,000,000 on hospital buildings would be spread over a number of years and, for the guidance of the board, Dr McLeod suggested a priority table. The report was submitted to the Director-General of Health and the Minister of Health before being presented to the board.
