BOBS MAUCH IS A PROSPECT Even Field To Contest The Dunedin Guineas

Bobs March is one of the likely favourites in a particularly even field in the Dunedin Guineas at Wingatui tomorrow, when the Dunedin Jockey Club will hold the second day of its spring meeting. Form is well represented, most' of the runners having raced prominently in recent starts. Bobs March was responsible for an excellent rehearsal for the Guineas in the seven-furlong hack race last Saturday being considered a certainty beaten after losing a big stretch of ground at the start. My Hero and Sharessa may offer sternest opposition to Bobs March.

In the John Grigg Stakes at Ashburton earlier this month, Sharessa just headed off Bobs March, with Dark Courage in third place and My Hero only half-a-length away, My Hero being considered the unlucky runner. The Ashburton event was an excellent pointer for the Guineas last season, Swayup, Beaumaris and Trinidad finishing in that order in both events. Swayup won the Wingatui event in the track record of 1.38 1-s—and tomorrow .it should again be a fast-run race. Sharessa has not raced since winning at Ashburton, and likewise My Hero also has not been given an outing. Dark Courage raced against the open sprinters last Saturday, finishing solidly into fifth place. Other acceptors for tomorrow’s race are Y inslow Boy, who gives every indication of developing into a stayer of note, and promising gallopers in Concealment, White Robe and Dunkirk As yet, Dunkirk has failed to produce his best form this season. There is thus the material for an excellent contest. .. Robin Redbreast, on the strength ol his solid run into third place to Night Owl and Super Flight in the Ranfurly Handicap last Saturday, probably will be installed favourite for the Grandstand Handicap tomorrow. Racing in the same colours as Bobs March, Robin Redbreast has shown glimpses of really good staying form. Super Flight again will be a force to be reckoned with, while of the otheis Langham and Bobby Dazzler are the most likely improvers. For a winner of a Metropolitan Handicap, Bobby Dazzler is well placed in the weights. Form Prospects The Star selects the following horses to race prominently:— Wakari Hurdles. —Great Bid, Gold Song, Royal Dollar. Juvenile Handicap.—Silence, Deploy, Interest. Felicitous For Classic Event At Hawke’s Bay Felicitous 'will be a warm favourite for the Hawke’s Bay Guineas, which is one of the feature events on the second day’s programme tomorrow of the Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club. One of the best of his age last season, Felicitous had his first race for the new season in the Wanganui Guineas on September 9, and, although outclassed on that occasion by the brilliant Davey Jones, the Neptune colt should be a much improved galloper tomorrow. It is not a strong field in tomorrow's event, one of the few with form to compare with that of Felicitous being Bonnie Charlie, who already has notched three wins this season.

A versatile performer over all distances, Golden Spa may make a successful return to middle-distance racing in the T. H. Lowry Memorial Handicap of one mile and a-quarter. Golden Spa’s racing has been confined to sprints so far this season and he should now be ready to show his best form. Dennis O’Kelly, Earldale and Mercian Lad all have been racing prominently.
