Danish Farmers’ New Threat
COPENHAGEN, Sept. 28 (Rec. 10.45 a.m.). —According to the United Press correspondent, Danish farmers’ organisations to sell their butter to Western Germany and France instead of Britain, if Britain will not consent to the Danish claims for a 7.5 per cent, increase in the butter price. The president of the Danish Farmers’ Association, Mr Hans Pinstrup, said today that no move will be made until Mr H. Overgaare, president of the Dairy Association, returns from London, where he participated in the butter price negotiations, which broke down last night.
The Danish attitude is that the 7.5 per cent, increase is justified by last year’s devaluation and the consequent increase of production costs because of the high prices of feeding stuff imported from the dollar area.
