U.N. FORCES MAY GO BEYOND THE 38th PARALLEL
WASHINGTON, September 27.— General MacArthur has been authorised to send United Nations troops into North Korea if this is necessary to destroy the power of the North Korean Army, responsible informants in Washington said today. They said that the longer-range political question of establishing order in North Korea and occupying it must be decided by .the United Nations.
An official United States spokesman said that General MacArthur already was under United Nations instructions to restore international peace in the “area” of Korea, not merely south of the 38th parallel, and United Nations air and naval forces had' already been in action above the parallel.
