F.R. BROWN TO LEAD ENGLISH CRICKET TEAM
LONDON, July 27 (Rec. 2 p.m.).— F. R. Brown, the 39-year-old Northamptonshire amateur, was chosen tonight to lead England’s test team against Australia and New Zealand this year. He led the team in two tests against New Zealand last year. The M.C.C. selectors’ sub-commit-tee announced that the following players have been invited to join the touring team: —R. T. Simpson, T. E. Bailey, U. G. Dewes, A. Bedser, T. Evans. C. Washbrook, W. E. Hollies, D. V. Wright, W. G. Parkhouse, L. Hutton, and D. Compton. The rest of the team has still to be chosen.
