INDOOR BASKETBALL Leading Teams Were Defeated
The leading teams in both the men’s and women’s divisions were defeated when the Greymouth Indoor Basketball Association’s competitions were continued last evening at the United Pavilion. In the women’s division, Togs were defeated 20-13 by Stars, and the men’s competition leaders, Bobcats, were defeated by Taxes 10-6.
Stars is one of the lower teams on the competition ladder but , last evening continued a recent run of successes to score a victory over the top team. As a result, Togs have been replaced by Comets as leaders of the competition. Togs, however, were not at full strength. The two leading men’s teams, Bobcats and Taxes, featured in a hardfought match, although the former was one short. Taxes, however, played as a winning combination throughout and would have fully extended the' complete Bobcat team. Bobcats new have 22 competition points and Taxes, 18. Results were:—
Taxes 10 v Bobcats 6; Comets 19 v Dodgers 16; Marist 18 v Rovers 15; Atoms 12 v Railway 6; Wreds 17 v A.T.C. 13; Certs 20 v Revingtons 14; Stars 20 v Togs 13. Selected Brunner teams will meet the following Greymouth teams on Tuesday next at the named times:— 7.30: Dodgers; 8.0: Marist; 8.30: Comets; 9.6: Wreds; 9.30: Stars. . .
