CYCLING GOOD BUNCH FINISH FOR FOURTH PLACE: RAMSDEN’S CLEAR WIN
i A good field of 12 riders took part in the Grey Cycling Club’s eightsmile road race from Karoro to Glad--1 stone and return last Saturday. ] J. Ramsden, who secured first place, won with at least two minutes to spare. It was one of the most clear cut wins, witnessed in club' races for many seasons. If Ramsden puts his mind to cycle racing he should go a long way in the sport. D. Johnstone also, rede well for 'second, the consistent D. Clark jnr., I took third place. . W. Walker won fourth place from 'a bunch of four riders in one of the best sprints home the judges have I seen for a considerable time. It was a blanket finish between the best [four riders in the club. Walker narrowly defeated C. Thomas, and inches back was H. Pratt, who got a bad run on the inside. G. Armstrong Vvas tucked in behind these three, with nowhere to go at the finish. It was pleasing to see Pratt so close up and with more training, he vnouio. soon take major honours. The club will again hold an eightmilo race tomorrow, on a changed course, from Paroa to the Taramakau bridge and return. The race will start at 2.30 and all riders are asked to be as early as possible.
