SALE OF ‘BLACK MARKET’ APPLES: FINE IMPOSED
A.UCKLAND, This Day (P.A.).— The first prosecution in Auckland under the Apple and Pear Marketing Regulations was brought'in the Police Court today. L. K. Jenkers, a fruit retailer, and president of the New Zealand Federation of Retail Fruiterers and Greengrocers, pleaded guilty to a charge of having for sale apples not purchased from.’ the New Zealand Apple and Pear Marketing Board or a grower in accordance with an authority. The prosecution admitted that the defendant had misunderstood the regulations. A fine of . £2 and costs was imposed.
