NEW MILK PRICE TO TAKE EFFECT AS FROM MONDAY
As a result of the Government’s decision in removing subsidies, the price of milk in Greymouth will be increased from 3|d to 4d a pint as from and including Monday. Commenting on the position today, Mr A. J. Carson, manager of Riversdale Dairy Supplies, the chief distributing agent in'Greymouth, said that he had received a number of inquiries from customers as to the correct procedure in tendering tokens or money for milk.
“During the last two weeks up to yesterday we have restricted the sale of tokens at any one time to one dozen per person at the old price of 3s 6d, but yesterday we charged 4s a dozen,” he said. “It is unlikely that anybody will buy tokens until they really need them so that the loss, if any, caused by people tendering tokens bought at the old price of 3s 6d a dozen will be very little.” Mr Carson pointed out that with tokens bought at the old price, the right procedure would be to tender tokens plus a half-penny for every pint required.
