MORE INFORMATION ON COLONIES DESIRED BY UNO
NEW YORK, November 11 (Rec 11 a.m.).— Over-riding protests by Britain, France and other colonial Powers, the United Nations Trusteeship Committee has approved the extension of the life of the special committee for examining information on dependent territories. The special committee also has the power to make recommendations to the General Assembly. Forty-one nations yesterday approved an Indian resolution providing that the General Assembly shall decide in 1952 whether the special committee shall be established as a permanent organisation of the United Nations. Meanwhile, the committee will continue to examine information of the economic, social and educational conditions among 200,000,000 inhabitants of the world’s dependent areas. „ , . j Only Britain, France, Belgium and South Africa opposed the Indian resolution. New Zealand and Greece abstained from voting.
