Honours Board For Grey Hospital Maternity Nurses

An honours board, bearing the names of nurses from the Grey Hospital who have qualified in their maternity nursing examinations, was unveiled in the maternity annexe last night by Miss Julius, a former matron, in the presence of staff members and members of the Grey Hospital Board. Already bearing the names of 31 successful candidates, three of whom topped the examination list for New Zealand, the honours board was erected at the suggestion of Miss Julius, and it was appropriate that she should be present to conduct the unveiling ceremony. Before the unveiling, the board’s chairman, Mr J. E. Stokes, briefly mentioned that the board, along with Miss Julius, was pleased to see the erection of an honours board showing the number of nurses who had been successful in their maternity nursing examinations. /

It was hoped, said Miss Julius, in performing the unveiling, that the honours list would be an inspiration to other nurses to have their names inscribed. , Welcome To Miss Julius

Before the unveiling ceremony Miss Julius was welcomed back to Greymouth by members of the hospital board, Mrs D. M. Parfitt presenting the guest with a spray. “I could either have gone to Government House or Greymouth for my investiture, and I was very grateful indeed to come here, as my honours were partly won while employed by this board,” said Miss Julius in acknowledging the welcome. She said that she was thrilled to be given the opportunity of unveiling the honours board. She had worked hard to have it erected. It would be an incentive for the nurses. Honours List
