GREY MAIN SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING

The resignation of Mr L. F. Anderson as secretary of the Grey Main School Committee was received at the monthly meeting of the committee held last evening. Mr Anderson, who tendered his resignation for medical reasons, had held the position of secretary since July 1946. Mernbers expressed admiration for Mr Anderson’s ability and untiring efforts on behalf of the school, and in doing so stated that parents did not realise the amount of work entailed in looking after the interests of their children, and in trying to provide necessary equipment with the small amount of money allowed for the work. All members expressed the wish that he would be restored to good health at an early date. The committee decided to write to the Education Board and ask for information as to the progress being made with the plans for new class rooms and improvements which, it has been given to understand, are in the “course of preparation"; also to request a radio point for the caretaker’s cottage . Accounts amounting to £27 4s 9d were passed for payment. It was decided to ask the local foreman of the board to effect necessary repairs at the school at an early date. Present at the meeting were:— Messrs P. Thomson, A. Jamieson, J. Bruerton, P. Wilkins, D. Binriie and N. Shallcrass. Apologies were received from Messrs Q_. Gunn and N. Kilgour.
