Wool And Hides May Be Exported To Japan
WELLINGTON, This Day (P.A.). —The Minister of Finance, Mr Nash, stated today that Japan’s principal purchases from New Zealand under the new trade agreement between Japan and certain Commonwealth sterling area countries was expected to comprise wool, hides and skins. New Zealand would probably import from Japan essential materials for industry, adequate supplies of which were unavailable from the United Kingdom, including certain textiles, silk yarns, oak timber and veneer and plywood. , Mr Nash added that the first agree-, ment to which New Zealand was a party covered July 1, 1948 to June 30, 1949, and the new'agreement related to the 1949-50. period.
