Notable absentees are McDonald Bailey, who has been left out in spite of the residential qualification, and Bill Nenkeville,-the mile champion, who was unable to make the trip. Whittle and Lewis may compete in five events each so that the size of the team can be kept down. The selectors included two high jumpers. Pavitt and Wells, who both cleared 6ft Gin. Don Finlay, if t he accepts the invitation, is described‘as the ideal choice for captain. He will probably be taking part in his last international event.
